Lithology and Thickness
The considered deposits are represented at the bottom by red-colored sandstones and fine-grained strata with a thickness of 400-750 m, containing frequent interlayers and lenses of gravels and small and medium gravel conglomerates. The total thickness is 1000-2200 m
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
They lie conformably on the rocks of the Paleocene Oligocene.
Upper contact
In the Ziddin - overlying formations, older than the Quaternary, are unknown. Above, sometimes with erosion, lie red-colored medium and large gravel conglomerates with a thickness of 500 - 1500 m with lenses of sandstones and gravels.
Regional extent
In the southern part of the Turkestan region, the largest ones are exposed in a number of depressions located in the valley of the Zarafshan River
